Stereoscopic Cinema
Stereoscopic 3D Cinema & Immersive Multi-Format Masters
Designing end-to-end production pipelines optimized for specialized, depth-based depth perception and multi-format spatial playback arrays. This capability encompasses the entire life-cycle of stereoscopic content creation—from procuring complex 3D camera packages and training remote scientific field teams in stereoscopic cinematography constraints, to executing high-density data management, dual-channel editing, and color grading. Tailored for dual-delivery theater architectures (3D Earth: Rainforests), these pipelines specialize in weaving pre-rendered 3D cinematic assets seamlessly with live geospatial software presentation layouts.
1. Technical Field Enablement & Research Team Training
To capture pristine footage from remote international canopy ecosystems, I established a specialized stereoscopic field-production pipeline. I managed the procurement of advanced 3D camera systems, mastered the unique geometric and convergence constraints of depth-based cinematography, and designed a custom training curriculum for traveling scientists and field researchers. By teaching non-technical academic teams the principles of stereoscopic framing, spatial stability, and lighting optimization, I successfully turned an active research expedition into a highly capable remote documentary camera crew.
2. Stereoscopic Post-Production & Multi-Source Editing
Upon the expedition's return, I audited and managed hours of raw, high-density 3D field data. I served as the principal lead for the project's comprehensive post-production lifecycle, executing the stereoscopic editing, depth alignment, color grading, and spatial audio design. To enrich the narrative arc and provide visual continuity, I directed and executed local macro b-roll shoots within specialized biological habitats—including the Academy’s living rainforest dome and regional zoological conservatories—weaving diverse media sources into a seamless 3D documentary asset.
3. Hybrid Playback & Real-Time Engine Integration
The final master asset was engineered specifically for a complex, presenter-led hybrid theater configuration. The public program utilized a dual-delivery architectural framework: running live, real-time geospatial spatial data via Uniview software managed by an on-stage presenter, which seamlessly handed off to my custom, pre-rendered 3D cinematic modules. This structural configuration allowed the theater to instantly pivot between global telemetry visualizations and cinematic, high-fidelity narrative depth, maximizing both educational accuracy and audience engagement.
